Subject: The Mountain Song - Crosby/Garcia/Hunter/B.Lesh
The Mountain Song is credited to Crosby/Garcia/Hunter/B.Lesh

http://www.furthur.net/the-news?start=5

The song was originally created collaboratively, as part of an ongoing cluster jam involving members of Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver Messenger Service, and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, all of whom happened to have been recording at Wally Heider studios in San Francisco at the time (1970). The results came to be known as the P.E.R.R.O. (Planet Earth Rock n' Roll Orchestra) sessions, and one of the participants, Paul Kantner of the Airplane, later released an album of that name, which included a version of "Mountain Song " with Paul's lyrics.

Great show... wish I had been there! It's smokin right out of the gate with the H>S>F opener, and the first set is pure gravy from there on. I really love Phil's Viola Lee Blues Sandwich thing. This is a Phil show for sure.... and it shines. After listening to that first set you wonder if they can match it after the break...

Second set starts off kind of slow and dreamy with Mountain Song, but this performance is tight with plenty of killer licks from Mr. Chimenti. Nice precise jam into a solid Rider... the slow, focused Terrapin is lovely ... it's pretty much just jaw-dropping awe from the first notes of Lady with A Fan through the Other One. What a night. Enjoy.

This recording by Chuck Miller is the best sounding version of this show that I've heard yet. THANK YOU!
